Work Types

Each task can optionally have a Work Type. Work Types represent the kind of work involved.

What Work Types you might want depends a lot on what work you actually want to keep track of inside Herding Cats, and what are useful ways to break that down and filter it.

You could use your work types like “contexts” in some task management approaches - things like errands, things in the garden, work to do on the big computer, phone work. Or you could use it to mark things that are less or more mentally challenging for you, or require particular frames of mind or levels of alertness.

If your task involves more than one type of work, it is probably really more than one task, and should be broken down into its different steps or parts.

Create, edit or delete your Work Types on the Things page. Deleting a Work Type means all tasks that previously had that Work Type will have no Work Type. Work Types have an associated colour.
